Pico Talon Fixed-Wing Drone
A 3D-printed fixed-wing UAV built as a platform for onboard AI, with long-range ELRS control and INAV flight, printed from the Flightory Pico Talon airframe. Currently in configuration before maiden flight.
// OVERVIEW
A fixed-wing UAV built from the ground up as a platform for onboard, autonomous AI flight. The airframe is 3D-printed from Flightory's Pico Talon design and runs a Matek F405 Wing flight controller on INAV, with an ExpressLRS link for long-range control. The goal is a small, capable airframe that can carry onboard compute for AI-driven autonomy: vision and decision-making at the edge rather than purely manual control. The build is fully assembled; current work is configuring and tuning INAV in the INAV Configurator and validating flight modes ahead of the maiden flight.
// HIGHLIGHTS
- ›Onboard AI platform: designed to carry a companion compute module for edge AI, with onboard vision and autonomous decision-making rather than purely manual control. (Planned/in-progress capability.)
- ›3D-printed airframe: printed and assembled from Flightory's Pico Talon files, integrating the full power system, flight controller, and radio link by hand.
- ›INAV flight controller: Matek F405 Wing running INAV for stabilized flight modes.
- ›Long-range link: ExpressLRS (ELRS) control link for reliable long-range telemetry and control.
- ›Current status: hardware complete; configuring INAV in the INAV Configurator and running pre-maiden checks.
